Shrewsbury Town 0-2 Wycombe Wanderers

Shrewsbury's relegation fears continue to grow after goals from Luke Leahy and Richard Kone earned Wycombe a 2-0 win at the Croud Meadow.

The hosts went close in a first half devoid of action after a mix-up between goalkeeper Franco Ravizzoli and Joe Low, but Dan Udoh saw his effort blocked.

The first opportunity of the second period came when Tom Bloxham ran through on goal. The forward found Udoh in the box but his strike was cleared for a corner by Ravizzoli.

Shrewsbury went down to 10 men with just over 20 minutes remaining when Tom Flanagan made a dangerous challenge on Low.

The Chairboys found the breakthrough through ex-Salopian captain Leahy in the 83rd minute after he stroked home a superbly-worked free-kick from the edge of the box.

Wycombe doubled their advantage in stoppage time after Garath McCleary teed up Kone to tap home and leave Shrewsbury six points above the bottom four.

Disappointing game from a Shrews pov. It felt like neither team wanted to lose as opposed to actually wanting to win. I felt it was pretty evenly matched until the red card. Credit to Wycombe for capitalising on the extra man advantage, which they did well. Classy of Leahy to acknowledge all the Shrews fans as well as Wycombe fans at the end. That gesture took the sting out of defeat for me!

Luke Leahy was an excellent player and captain for us, i like most Shrewsbury fans was sad to see him leave.

We have three games left with quite a few players out of contract at the end of the season, if the players don't show more commitment than they did yesterday in those three games i can see Paul Hurst having a huge clear out at the end of the season, Moore should leave too.

A terrible performance from our Shrewsbury Town players today, lacking in every department which is quite remarkable considering our league position, the only positive today was that Port Vale and Cheltenham both lost so we remain 6 points clear of the drop.
A big clear out at the end of the season, so many players just not good enough.

To me it beggars belief that Mickey Moore still has a job. He has overseen this shambles. Admittedly most of the players that were here last year haven't reached anywhere the levels of last season, but the players that have been added (Benning aside) are nowhere near good enough.

Not much happened until the sending off, then we took control. Superb cameo from Kone, always hassling the Shrewsbury defence, drawing the free kick that let to the first goal, then netting his own with a great finish from McCleary's cross. Our safety officially secured, we can now start to think about next season.
