Ipswich Town fans hit back at “salty” comments from League One manager

Darren Ferguson has today said that his Peterborough United side would perhaps be top of the Sky Bet League One table if fellow promotion chasers Ipswich Town and Wycombe Wanderers had not played Bolton Wanderers’ youth side.

As quoted by the Peterborough Telegraph, the Posh boss said: “Twenty-eight points from 15 matches is a decent return and let’s not forget if Ipswich and Wycombe hadn’t both played against Bolton’s youth team we might well have been top of the table.”

Peterborough United currently find themselves in third place in the third tier, two points behind the aforementioned Ipswich and Wycombe.

And it appears that Darren Ferguson feels a little bit aggrieved that his Sky Bet League One rivals played Bolton Wanderers before their takeover was completed.

Understandably, many fans have taken to social media to share their feelings on what Ferguson has said, and it’s fair to say the majority of Ipswich Town fans are finding it quite funny.

Mark Heath is the head of sport for the East Anglian Daily Times, and he made perhaps the most obvious joke he could have at Darren Ferguson’s expense.

This former journalist and Ipswich Town fan raised an excellent point, and that was that if Posh had not conceded a late goal in their 2-2 home draw with Ipswich Town, they would in fact be top of the table right now.

A perhaps somewhat unfair dig at Darren Ferguson’s playing career from this fan…

I think you might regret this comment Mr Ferguson…

Posh have the chance to return to the top of the league when they visit Blackpool this weekend, but will need other results to go their way.
