Town Down to Second After Saturday Fixtures
Saturday, 2nd Nov 2019 17:14

Town slipped to second in League One following Saturday’s fixtures.

The Blues are now behind Wycombe Wanderers, who beat Shrewsbury 1-0 at home, by three points but with two games in hand on the Chairboys, who are at Portman Road on Tuesday 26th November.

Peterborough remain third two points behind Town - again having played two games more - having lost 4-3 at Blackpool.

Oxford netted a late equaliser in a 1-1 draw at Portsmouth to move up to fourth, two points behind Posh and ahead of Fleetwood in fifth, who lost 2-1 at Bolton, and sixth-placed Coventry, who drew 0-0 at home to Accrington, on goal difference.

The Blues were scheduled to play expelled Bury at home this weekend, while they are next in action in their rearranged game at Rochdale on Tuesday.

Posh losing is a big result.

Maybe if Posh had played Bolton under 10s instead of Blackpool today they'd be above us.

Arnie...with two games in hand how is it must win. We dont have any must win games at this stage. Would be very nice to win. Why crank up pressure?

If you could strengthen with just one player in January, which area would you choose? Personally, I'd go for a big, physical forward who could get on the end of crosses and mix it with some of the more agricultural defenders we meet in L1. I don't see a lot of this coming from back-up Will Keane at the moment, I'm afraid, although maybe he will show other qualities in the second half of the season. So to answer my own question: Another Norwood, but size XXL.

Steve itfc sweden i think a fully fit keans ( an oxy moron perhaps) is able to do that role! but agree a young Akinfenfa would be good, didnt realise he is 37! hope he has a crap game against us though!

Probably in answer to your question a new LB, dont rate Garwood in his defending and kenlock for me is a league 2 player. A proper left footed Cb, Tommy smith? should never have let him go. And although we have an abundance of talent in midfield thats an area we could do with more physicality, someone who wont be bullied.

Games in hand are opportunities to gain points, they can't be taken for granted so I agree that Tuesday is a must win as is the other hand game, otherwise we will be where we are with no games in hand, going backwards.
Surely this is the sort of pressure we have to get used to, its a good thing, if we can't hack it then we are not ready.
