Peterborough United look to bounce back from weekend with victory over Shrewsbury

Peterborough United will look to avoid back-to-back defeats for the first time since the opening weekends of the season as they travel to mid-table side Shrewsbury Town this evening.

Darren Ferguson’s side were beaten 4-3 in a thrilling game on the Fylde Coast against Blackpool at the weekend, and Posh will be looking to tighten up defensively as they aim to keep tabs on the teams at the top of the league.

Peterborough are currently third in the Sky Bet League One table, but have fallen five points behind the leaders Wycombe Wanderers after failing to win in their last two games.

Prior to their defeat at Blackpool, only a last gasp Mo Eisa goal earned them a point at home to Coventry City, and Posh have gone from being top of the table to five points behind in the space of just two weeks.

If other results go their way tonight, Posh could move back into the automatic promotion places, but Ipswich Town who currently sit second are also in action.

The Tractor Boys make the trip to the North West to face Rochdale, knowing that a victory for themselves would move them back ahead of Wycombe Wanderers.

Posh are expected to make changes following a disappointing defensive performance at the weekend, and with no new injury concerns, boss Darren Ferguson has a fully fit squad to choose from.

The last time Posh lost two league games in a row in the league came back in August when they were beaten in their opening two fixtures.
